She’s a national superstar among librarians, and she lives and works in Littleton.

The Colorado native and University of Denver graduate has made a lasting impact at Bemis Public Library in the city of Littleton.

In a long and distinguished career as the head of adult and young adult services, she has garnered accolades for her work: providing classes and programs for the immigrant community, creating Web pages for Littleton history and a teen-vet oral history project, obtaining grants for numerous library projects, including a computer lab.

In 2003 Library Journal spotlighted her as among the “50 most innovative librarians working today.” That same year Phyllis was named the Colorado Association of Libraries award winner for “exemplary library services to ethnic populations.”
