Denver Taiko Drum & Dance Performance
Enjoy a high-energy musical performance featuring Denver Taiko on the front lawn of Bemis Public Library. “Taiko,” which is a Japanese style of drumming, involves not only drumming but rapid dance movements. Denver Taiko, a group of Japanese American drummers, has performed throughout the United States and is recognized as one of the leading taiko groups in the country. The performers build their own drums and compose original works. The performance at the library also will include stories about Japanese culture and history. Denver Taiko won the 2001 Denver Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum.
